Cami and I turned 33 on Tuesday and we decided to go to the tulip festival with our children (who happen to be off track for four weeks). About half of the tulips were in bloom. It was beautiful.

I took these lovely pics with my new phone camera. Only problem is, I do not know how to zoom in. So, you cannot see my children very well. We had fun anyways. We were all super hot and we discussed how fun it is going to be in the heat of Vegas. What are we thinking?Every birthday I am reminded how high maintenance I am as a wife. I always expect some grandiose birthday extravanganza (not really, just the perfect gift), and to my wondering surprise, not what I expected. I feel so disappointed, and then I feel bad for Kevin, because he really does try. I just want him to be inside of my head and think like me :-). I know that I expect too much and I am trying to reframe my thinking, but my mom was always so good at getting us the perfect surprise. Poor guy, he just hates holidays because he feels like he can never do anything right. Is there any hope for us?

Happy, happy birthday! One year older and wiser too?
Man...you are high maintenance! No wonder he has to ask me for ideas to get you gifts!!! You should just give him a list and then you won't be disappointed! Anyways...Happy Birthday!!!!!!
sorry, I deleted the comment...here it is in its very long entirety...
Happy Birthday! I was thinking about you and Cam yesterday and thinking I needed to call you. Only problem, well...I was at work, then I had to print some pics in the darkroom. Well, I was only planning on spending a few hours in the darkroom..well...that few hours became seven hours. So, I returned home in time to tuck my children in bed and still think of you and Cam and that it was your birthday and that I had not called either of you to wish you Happy Birthday.
The tulip festival sounds and looks like fun, and yea on a new camera phone!!! No, your not high maintenance either, we just need to "drop" very LOUD hints to our husbands as what we want for birthdays/holidays.
Anyway, sorry, long comment...

Lol! I gave up years ago. My parents always made a big deal about holidays and stuff too. But I am very grateful for Eric's philosophy "It doesn't have to be a holiday to treat someone you love special and give them gifts"... I think he's right and I believe every day I am married to him is a holiday!
