Well I haven't posted for a while because for one I am bogged down with midterms, and two I haven't had anything extremely exciting going on. The good news is Ruth is done with Radiation. She only has hormone blocker injections every three weeks for a year. She is thrilled to be finished with her intensive treatment. More good news is that she is growing back hair, although, she doesn't like the attention she gets from it. She is so humble.
I guess I have had some excitement at my internship (sorry if you get bored with this, it is just a great way for me to journal my experiences and see my growth). I had to hospitalize a client due to mental shutdown, go to a DWS hearing with a client, assume crisis therapy sessions for my vacationing supervisor, instigate a coping skills group, learn a new computer system (after I had just learned the old system), calm a very irrate intake client, run a marriage therapy session while the real therapist left to make copies (or so he said) for thirty minutes, and read ten books just to feel capable of giving some sound advice. I know that this sounds like blah, blah, blah, but I have been extremely nervous in each one of these situations. I have learned that becoming a good therapist requires the ability to B.S. It is not always what you know, but it is the ability to say things in a way that makes you sound like you know. That is where the Spirit comes in, because without it I would be at a loss for words. I do not usually perform well under pressure.

Welcome to life in general- you've been a mom for a while now! This B.S. skill that you mention, what do you think we've been doing...I mean, Santa, Easter Bunny- back me up here! ;)
What I'm saying is: you already have the talents needed to do this job, the confidence will come, too. You are amazing and they are all so fortunate to have you- and they seem to notice (30 minutes for copies, DURING a session? Come on!)
First and foremost I must remove the beam from my brother's eye. Kevin get the stick out of your eye [see top picture] lol. B.S. isn't really that if you feel the spirit directing you, is it? I know as a manager I have had to choose words carefully to do damage control... I wouldn't call it B.S. When you give someone a false compliment that's B.S.
Thank you for updating us! I'm glad you have felt the spirit guiding you. It is so hard to know what to tell someone when you feel like what you say could be a life changing thing for good or bad. The responsibility you feel must be hard. I'm glad Heavenly Father is there showing you the things to say!
Love you!
Your clients are lucky to have you. you've got great intuition and a warm heart, so i'm sure you are saying just the right things that need to be said in that moment. exciting that you are getting so much valuable experience!
